Privacy
Blockhorn asks for no names, no email and no account. Here is everything it keeps.
What is stored
- Plan links are not stored at all: the plan is in the link itself.
- A Practice Book (only if you start one) keeps a fingerprint (SHA-256) of its private key, the plans you save (sport words, block kinds and minutes), the practices you log (a date and minutes by focus), and when the book was created and last opened. No names, no team, no place, no players.
- Books not opened for 400 days are deleted with everything in them. You can delete a plan, a logged practice or the whole book at any time.
- Rate counters: to stop abuse, the number of books started each day from an address or its network (the first three parts of an IPv4 address, or the first 48 bits of an IPv6 address), kept only as a salted hash and deleted within three days. Backups leave these counters out.
- Backups: the database is backed up nightly and at each update of the site; backups are kept 14 days, then deleted.
- Server logs: the web server records requests (address, time, page) as every web server does; they are used only to keep the site running.
Cookies
No tracking or advertising cookies, no outside fonts and no analytics services. Pages with a form (the Practice Book buttons) set one security cookie that protects the form; it holds no personal information. The only thing the pages load from another site is the banner ad on the home page, How it works and Pricing, from adengine.us (see Advertising); its script also counts one page view per page, kept only as a daily total.
Advertising
The home page, How it works and Pricing show one banner ad from AdEngine (adengine.us), the small ad network run by WeldonPC, the company behind Blockhorn. For now the ads are for WeldonPC's own services. The planner and its plan sheets, the live practice clock, printable cards, your Practice Book, this page, Terms and error pages never show an ad.
To show an ad, your browser loads a script from adengine.us, asks it for one banner, loads the banner image, and reports once that the page was viewed and once that the banner was shown. Like any website, adengine.us receives your internet address, your browser type and the address of this site with those requests.
- No cookies, no profile. AdEngine sets no cookies, gives you no ID and does not track you from site to site.
- How your internet address is used. adengine.us looks up the approximate city for your internet address in a location database kept on its own server (nothing is sent to anyone else), so that ads meant for one area are shown only there. It also uses the address to count each ad view or click only once and to leave out robots and WeldonPC's own office traffic. The address is not stored with the counts; the temporary entries made from it expire within six hours and are cleared from the server within two days.
- What is kept. Daily totals only: page views for this site, and views and clicks for each ad. The adengine.us web server also keeps a standard access log (internet address, time, address requested, referring site, browser) for security; it is deleted on a rolling schedule.
- Clicking an ad passes through adengine.us, which counts the click, and then opens the advertiser's site, which has its own privacy policy.
- Nothing about you is sold or shared. The ad request names only this site and the banner size: your plans, plan links and Practice Book never leave Blockhorn.
Your browser
Your browser (not our server) remembers two things: the live clock’s sound on/off setting, and the link of the last Practice Book you opened, so the planner can offer “Save to my Practice Book”. The book page has a Forget on this device button; clearing your browser’s site data also removes both.
Children
Blockhorn is a tool for coaches and collects no information about players of any age. The banner ad appears only on the three public pages written for coaches, never on the live clock the team watches, and it sets no cookies and builds no profile of anyone.
Payments
Payments are not open yet (preview). When they open, PayPal handles them; Blockhorn will keep only the subscription’s reference and status, never card details.
Blockhorn is powered by WeldonPC.com. It is unofficial and not affiliated with Garfield Heights City Schools.
